With the second album, Can Bardd take a huge step forward from the already very good debut album. Improved songwriting as well as an excellent production this time around solidify the Can Bardd's ambition to stand proudly in the Atmospheric Black Metal olymp alongside bands like Caladan Brood, Summoning, Sojourner, Elderwind, Eldamar or Pure Wrath.
Nature Stays Silent is an excellent album of atmospheric black metal, but it's mostly an excellent music album. Far from being redundant and never sacrificing either technicality to emotion, nor emotion to technicality,
Cân Bardd manages to keep the interest of the listener during relatively long compositions, in a genre where the impression of déjà-vu unfortunately happens often as the codes are found reinterpreted too often without real originality.
Having not only the merit of offering their own interpretation of the atmospheric black metal, but also of achieving it brilliantly, Cân Bardd delivers with A Nature Stays Silent an excellent first album, a real musical journey in the confines that still remains to discover .
Gatefold, incl. download. Limited edition of 199 copies on green/black swirl vinyl.
Influenced by bands such as Caladan Brood, Elderwind, Saor and Gallowbraid, Cân Bardd was founded in 2016 as a one-man project by then 18 year old Malo Civelli from Switzerland, with the purpose of creating an outlet for his feelings and ideas that would be at once heavy and aggressive, yet also melodic and atmospheric.

With the help of session drummer Dylan Watson Malo wrote, recorded and mixed his first album with over 70 minutes playing time in less than a year. The final mastering was then done by Mike Lamb from Sojourner, before Malo signed a deal with Northern Silence.
One of the most promising newcomers to appear on the scene in 2017, Cân Bardd is certain to appeal to fans of Caladan Brood, Summoning, Sojourner, Saor or Elderwind, and generally all who enjoy what is commonly known as Epic or Atmospheric and Melodic Black Metal.

Dylan Watson later joined him as permanent drummer. With the first two albums Cân Bardd already managed to enthrall a lot of fans in the Atmospheric Black Metal community, and with “Devoured by the Oak” the band set their sights even higher. The goal was to create a perfect blend of the strengths of the first two albums ‐ the ambience, textures and atmosphere of the debut, and the composition and quality of the sophomore album, culminating in a more mature sound and a more intense experience for the listener. To reach that goal the band once again teamed up with Vladimir Cochet as producer and asked the painter Michael Handt to create a very unique oil painting for the cover.
