Four years on from their critically acclaimed Let the Devil In masterpiece,
SARGEIST return with their massively anticipated fourth album, Feeding the Crawling Shadows. More than just a quintessentially "black metal" album title, Feeding the Crawling Shadows is a veritable raison d'etre for these Finnish scene legends: With faith and devotion, through ritual and necromancy, SARGEIST feed the blackest, most Satanic essence at the core of BLACK METAL and, in turn, wield its clandestine powers with sorcerous might.
4 new hymns, recorded in the same session like Sargeist's latest full length masterpiece, Unbound, showing nothing but Satanic Black Devotion.
Grim Nihlistic Black Metal. This is a cold as death, Black Metal masterpiece!! Featuring members of HORNA & BEHEXEN, this is the Finnish BM supergroup! Perhaps the coldest release since DARKTHRONE's "Under A Funeral Moon"!
The riffing is fast, melodic, and in pure Finnish/Norwegian black metal roots heritage.
The band's melodic quality shines best in the track ‘Sargeist' on this album. It's absolutely heart wrenching. Dripping with anger and emotion. Regret, sorrow, hatred, ready to end it all. No Funeral. This is the real fucking deal.
Sargeist does a brilliant job breaking from blast-beats into a head banging steady rhythm that keeps me tapping my boot through the song at different rhythmically timed formations. It's in many ways traditional shit, done better than most groups out there.
Re-issue properly with a complete updated layout released with leading band member Shatraug himself as supervisor.
500x heavyweight smoke milky clear/black 12" (180g) in a microtene innerbag, printed innersleeve, black & white on 220g carton, poster 2pp, black & white, 280x430mm, 150g art-paper, jacket, black & white printed on 350g carton, all assembled in a plastic overbag.
Sargeist returns with an all-new entry into the black metal genre.
They take their sound and refine it into an unrelenting machine of darkness.
They keep all of their bass-lines that they're known for and amplify them into some of the best hearing in a long time. The guitar riffs are second to none. You seriously get the idea that Shatraug, Hoath Torog and Horns spent a lot of time sifting through different sounds and styles to try and find the best possible sound for this release. The drums, although sometimes a little too repetitive, sound top notch most of the time.
The band blends all these together to make some of the most melodic, dark and cold parts, to the most raw, brutal and intense parts.

Re-issue, 500x marble milky clear/black 12" (140g) in a black poly-lined innersleeve, poster A2 black & white printed on 150g art-paper, gatefold cover black & white, printed on 350g carton, all assembled in a plastic overbag.
Finnish black metal is an acquired taste. It's chaotic, noisy and pure evil.
This is a more mature release musically. The song structures have come a long way since Satanic Black Devotion, but still maintain everything this band is known for. There is definitely more of the signature intertwining guitar work, that weaves in and out amongst the chaos of the drums and ghastly vocals. It's that guitar work that takes the listener for an emotional roller coaster, especially on songs like "Burning Voice of Adoration", which has the ability to stir up absolute sadness and sorrow.
As for production, the formula is still the same. Turn everything up beyond reason and comprehension, almost to a breaking point. Seriously, prolonged exposure to this will probably make your houseplants wilt and die.
