Three years after their fascinating debut, Suicide Forest is back with Reluctantly, a sophomore album which further develops their art. Taking their name from the Japanese Aokigahara forest, where many troubled
people travel to end their life, the one-man band from Tucson, Az., moves from classic depressive black metal coordinates and expands their sound palette. As a result, Reluctantly settles somewhere in between DSBM, atmospheric black metal and post-black/blackgaze.
The perfect company for restless souls, Reluctantly reminds of the eerie keyboard patterns of Burzum and the dilated atmospheres of contemporary US black metal pillars like Ash Borer, mixed with some unpredictable twists such as dissonant riffs and solos. Suicide Forest will please both those looking for furious up-tempos and the more introvert blacksters, looking for a sanctuary from the outside world.
Multi-instrumentalist and mastermind A.Kruger wrote Reluctantly in the second half of 2019, before the pandemic struck us all, but began tracking the album at his home studio in early 2020. About the lyrics, when asked what themes inform his work, he plainly replied: The whole album focuses
on the themes of resent and isolation, feelings that were only compounded considering the entirety of Reluctanlty was recorded during the covid-19 lockdown”.

"Daudswiärk" is Horn's 10th studio album, following the 20th anniversary of the Black Metal project. Stylistically, Daudswiärk – "Work of Death" in the Low German variant formerly spoken in the Münsterland region – takes a few steps back in time after the rather experimental, multi-instrumental folk-influenced album "Verzet", reverting to the basic Metal instruments, resulting in a concise, fast and short full-length album devoid of intros, outros or interludes. It features a very somber overarching tone compared to the rather upbeat Horn albums of the last years – blast beats, scattered dystopian synths, a heavy shift towards extreme vocals instead of clean ones. The output was produced by M. Stock (Empyrium/The Vision Bleak/Sun of the Sleepless) at the renowned "Studio E2" and features a rough and dense sound heavily favoring the bass guitar and drum work.
Thematically and as first in the history of the project, Daudswiärk features various passages in the Low German vernaculars of Westphalia, primarily "Westfäölsk" and "Mönsterlänner Platt", derived from various historical sources (dictionaries/poems/short prose texts). The album is centered around rural life in this region around the turn of the 19th/20th century, mainly dealing with the topics of agriculture, hunger, sickness and demise, yet also with the advance of medicine during that period.

Belore's first two albums were journeys into forgotten lands, where each title told a story - a world where landscapes, magic and medieval history exist side by side.
Continuing in this tradition, the third album features seven captivating and varied songs of Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal reminiscent of bands like Summoning, Caladan Brood or Emyn Muil. For something to be “ecstatic,” the feelings and emotions it evokes must transcend what one tends to experience most regularly in their lives. Ecstatic joy isn’t just happiness; it’s a feeling of jubilation which impacts one emotionally and in a metaphysical, arguably spiritual sense too. Although it has long been associated with connotations of the dark and macabre, extreme music has the ability to be a powerful mode of expression for these feelings of absolute bliss, overwhelming love, and awe-inspiring sublimity. Extreme emotions no less and those which black metal quartet Agriculture evokes with its ecstatic subversion of the subgenre’s tropes.
What was initially a meeting and subsequent series of jam sessions between Kern Haug and Daniel Meyer, two musicians in the Los Angeles underground noise scene, would eventually manifest as a shared vision to portray the sublimity of the human experience through the vehicle of heavy music. Following the additions of veteran guitarist Richard Chowenhill and bassist / vocalist Leah Levinson to the band’s lineup, this idea would crystalize into the “ecstatic black metal” backbone of Agriculture’s music, first heard on the band’s 2022 debut EP, The Circle Chant.
With Agriculture’s self-titled record and first full-length LP, it’s abundantly clear that the band’s use of heavy music to showcase the most resplendent emotions and moments of the human experience has a far deeper meaning. Woven between the flurries of soaring tremolo picking, crescendoing guitar harmonies, celebratory screamed vocals, thoughtful improvisation, and meditative atmospheric passages is the record’s mission statement to experience the wonders and joys of both the esoteric and physical world.
The abysmal alchemists of lysergic black/death abominations Diabolic Oath are back with their most warped and devastating work to date. On their new sophomore full-length uncreation Oracular Hexations, the band's staple approach of using completely fretless stringed instruments and a triple simultaneous vocal attack to depredate the listener's psyche, reaches truly majestic and catastrophic forms. Their technically daring and transformative approach to the usually dogmatic "war metal" craft has metastasized as a highly divergent and enigmatic mutation within the genre itself, where the crushing heaviness of the riffs concocted to their unconventional creation has resulted in an alternate reality of bestial black metal unbound with truly unseen and unthinkable auditory monstrosities. Shapeless, formless and free of any boundaries, the six lengthy spells contained within Oracular Hexations assume an almost globulous, chimeric form, appearing horrendous and misshapen to the listener as they morph and four-dimensionally sprawl like a sensorially annihilating mass devouring the psyche. The gnarled and grotesque nature of chords and musical structures created evoke a sense of disorienting and otherworldly disembodiment, becoming a fertile ground for degenerate forms of ritualism and esotericism that weave an unsettling conceptual canvas rife for the propagation of the absurd. Unbound with cryptic and abstruse mutterings about cosmological, multi-dimensional and impossible states of being, Oracular Hexations is an hallucinatory convergence between technical, crushing and flesh-scouring musical genius and truly grotesque forms of composition and storytelling. An indissoluble dualism between primeval destruction and inscrutable bewilderment which will test the psyche and flesh of those subjected to the album's surrealistic destructive force.

Unleashed Hymns is the second album from the Norwegian artist Fjøsnisse.
The one-man project was launched last year by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Anders Vada.
This album it’s released on vinyl for the first time.
They are a good example of very well executed Norwegian black metal with thrash metal elements.
Great vocals, thrash metal style abrasive riffs and relentless drumming there is actually a fair bit of ambiance and melody on here.
All the tracks have a very balanced amount of both melodic and harsh elements with smooth transitions in the guitar passages.
Then there is the beautifully serie and frostbitten instrumental The Wanderer, the closing song to what has been a very enjoyable album.
Unleashed Hymns is a cult-classic album, in particularly for those who enjoyed the bands that emerged as part of the Norwegian black metal scene in the 1990s.
A few de- cades later Fjøsnisse is continuing with the legacy.

Sad Whisperings was formed in 1990 (as Desecrate) and released several demo’s in the 80’s / 90s up till their split in 2004 and gained a worldwide cult following. Sad Whisperings was pure doom death metal like their early inspiration Paradise Lost and with a touch of the Dutch school of doom death metal like The Gathering. Sad Whisperings got signed by Dutch cult label Foundation 2000 (The Gathering, Gorefest) and released their debut album in 1993 called ’Sensitive to autumn’. The album was recorded at the famous Beaufort Studios with Han Swagerman (The Gathering, Sear Bliss etc). Also featuring guest vocals by Usurper / Moon of Sorrow’s Parick Harreman..The insert contains rare and old pictures, flyers and posters. Extensive liner notes from Steven Willems (Rock Tribune, Streams of Ancient Wisdom: The History of Dutch Death And Extreme Metal). The band recently reformed, plays live and is currently working on a new album.
Finally the two HEXX cult ep’s ‘Quest For Sanity’ (1988) and ‘Watery Graves’ (1990) are re-issued. When guitarist / vocalist Clint Bower (Abscess / The Ravenous) joined HEXX in 1984, their style changed from power metal (as on their two first albums) into raw thrash almost death metal. The album was engineerd by John Marshall (Blind Illusion, Metal Church, Metallica live), all artwork was made by Kent Mathieu (Possessed, Forbidden, Exhorder, Autopsy). All artwork and audio files are fully restored. The album contains eight tracks in total.
