AGALLOCH
Ashes Against The Grain, MC (Ice)

Originally released in 2006, 'Ashes Against the Grain' seamlessly blends heaviness with atmosphere and precision. With their third full-length, the band continued their musical journey, always a step ahead, but without losing grip of their dark metal roots. The album combines elements of black metal, Scandinavian prog-rock, and post-rock with the unique, melancholic, contemplative style that is so typical of Agalloch.

From the driving force of “Falling Snow” to the dissolving trilogy “Our Fortress Is Burning...,” this is Agalloch at their most direct and elemental. A contrast to the warmth firey nightsky of 'Pale Folklore', the monumental poetic folk of 'The Mantle' , 'Ashes...' gazes into a horizon of dying embers with clarity.

The band’s panoramic scope of songwriting - takes on a widescreen scale - combined with the albums imagery, and production all aligned into a monolithic statement — sharp, modern, and unrelentingly melancholic.

AGALLOCH
Pale Folklore (Trifold DLP Smoke)

Although 'Pale Folklore' stands as Agalloch`s debut record, it already embodies several elements that later became part of the band`s signature sound. Effortlessly picking up from their excellent demonstration cassette, it sees the band refining their sound even further. An audio amalgamation combining the profoundness of early Ulver, with the gloom of old Katatonia and the exalted boldness of Fields of the Nephilim, thus adding unique elements of nostalgia and atmosphere to their own melodic interplay of guitars and excellent musical framework. The album contains strong signs of a band that knew at a young age how to draw their canvas. Influenced by the landscapes of the American Pacific Northwest, and with an essence reminiscent of the Scandinavian wilderness, it firmly put Agalloch on the map and raised eyebrows about what a band from North America can be capable of.

As a person that grew up checking out records based on their cover artwork alone, this album was particularly notable - the wood grain cover with a gold emblazoned logo engraving was instantly enthralling. This is music that glorifies the night sky, envisions campfire magic, heralds nature over humans, arcane arts & poetry, and worships the beauty of a crackling fireplace. It could be the soundtrack for a lone wanderer striving through a wintry storm, only to end up knocking on a faded wooden door to find shelter in a desolate cabin. In many ways the sound of forlorn times.

If you are looking to fill your heart with woodsmoke and the fire of the mountain's spirit, look no further.

"Pale Folklore was a watershed moment in American heavy music, when a few young musicians with a shared love of underground death metal – and broad personal tastes beyond – turned their already virtuosic talents toward a fresh hybrid of metal and neofolk through a gothic lens." Daniel Lake / author of USBM: A Revolution of Identity in American Black Metal

AGALLOCH
The Mantle (Trifold DLP Smoke)

Agalloch's 'The Mantle' isn't just a great and influential album; it's a transformative journey, one that showed the band breaking away from their early direction in favor of its intricate blend of atmospheric metal mixed with an unheard amount of folk, and post-rock canvas.

Originally released in 2002, and met with surprise and mixed emotions, it continues to captivate listeners with its atmospheric depth and emotional resonance decades later. One could say, there is no other album like this, none other whose artwork and imagery are so intertwined, every image resonates so well with the music, it feels almost impeccable, as if pictures could tell the songs by themselves.

The album allows the nostalgic warmth many crave, yet simultaneously creates a contemporary setting with cold and haunting silver imagery: nature's majestic realm meets post-modern bitterness.

From the haunting melodies of "In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion" to the almost hypnotic rhythms of "I Am the Wooden Doors," the album's sonic palette is as diverse as the landscapes it evokes. Each track on "The Mantle" unfolds like a chapter in a dark, enchanting journey. Agalloch's signature blend of atmospheric (black) metal, deep folk instrumentation, and poetic lyricism creates a sense of introspection, an ethereal post-urban panorama.

Ultimately, 'The Mantle' isn't just an album to be listened to; it's another experience to be felt. For fans of atmospheric & profound music, this album remains utterly relevant... and utterly essential.

ONDFODT
Dimsvall (Smoke Vinyl)

180g red smoke vinyl edition

Step into the unsettling world of Dimsvall, the fifth full-length album from Finnish metal act Ondfødt.

The record takes you through a dark, introspective space, where the music feels heavy with the weight of time, loss, and memory. It's a collection of songs that reflect on the things we can’t hold onto and the parts of ourselves we often push aside. The sound is atmospheric, blending harsh moments with subtle, melancholic undertones that draw you into a place that feels both familiar and unsettling.

Lyrically, Dimsvall examines the ongoing tension between light and dark—how the two often coexist and shape our experience. The songs are meditative, exploring themes like the passage of time, the grip of memories, and the quiet unknowns that lie ahead. It's music that invites reflection without offering easy answers.

Recorded at Wolfthrone Studios, Dimsvall was brought to life by Owe Inborr, whose vocals and guitar work anchor the album. He’s joined by Joel Notkonen on guitar, Jere Halonen on bass, and Tommi Tuhkala on drums, with Inborr handling the mixing and mastering. Guest appearances from Alexander Kuoppala (ex-Children of Bodom), Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns (Finntroll, ...And Oceans), and Tom Cattermole (Pravitas) add layers to the sound, enriching the already intricate compositions.

From the instrumental “Dimsvall” to the final track “Stormin,” the album is a measured exploration of shadow and light, a quiet yet potent statement on the passage of time and the things we leave behind.

The album artwork by René Thuys mirrors the tone of the music—subtle, dark, and thought-provoking.

THE FLIGHT OF SLEIPNIR
Nature's Cadence

Prepare for the eighth installment from The Flight of Sleipnir, masters of Viking/Norse mythology-infused tunes. Founded back in 2007, founders David Csicsely and Clayton Cushman have been on a relentless quest, blending heavy sounds with ancient sagas. Initially a dynamic duo, Csicsely and Cushman crafted five albums before expanding their lineup. In 2016, with the release of "Skadi" under Eisenwald Records, Dave Borrusch and Justin Siegler became integral members. However, after the acclaimed release of "Eventide" in 2021, the band bid farewell to Siegler, welcoming Jeremy Winters as the new guitar virtuoso.

"Nature's Cadence," slated for release in 2024 via Eisenwald, marks the powerful return of The Flight of Sleipnir. While not strictly a concept album, it weaves themes of resilience against the elements and reverence for nature's beauty. Recorded predominantly at their studio in Arvada, Colorado, with additional touches in Clay's home studio and World Famous Studios, the album's sonic landscape was carefully sculpted by the local Pete de Boer, renowned for his attention to detail and finesse.

Thematically rich deliving into the complexities of human experience. From the primal violence of old Norse sagas to the existential musings on control and the pursuit of discovery, each track resonates with a deep and multilayered meaning. Drawing inspiration from ancient texts and personal introspection, The Flight of Sleipnir crafted a timeless narrative throught out the new record.

"Nature's Cadence" masterfully intertwines ethereal tones, avant-garde flair, and thunderous riffs, showcasing The Flight of Sleipnir's evolution and dedication - Mastered on vintage analog equipment, imparting a nostalgic haze that envelops the music, serving as the final spark to unleash the magic.

Through a delicate fusion of melancholic melodies and haunting vocals, this release promises a transformative musical experience. Prepare to be transported on a nuanced journey through the ages, where every note whispers of depth and emotional resonance. As with every release from The Flight of Sleipnir, the powerful artwork was crafted by band founder David Csicsely himself, seamlessly uniting each work into a cohesive masterpiece. This artistic endeavor consistently highlights the depth and creative ambition of the band with each new offering.

AGALLOCH
The Mantle, (Silver)

Deluxe Tape Edition edition of this legendary album!
Comes with silver tape, and covercard with black print on silver paper.
