Influences drawn from the esoteric realms of death, black, doom metal, dark ambient, and arcane literature converge to shape Spectral Voice’s most realized manifestation. Featuring the sonic prowess of M. Kolontyrsky (guitar), P. Riedl (guitar), and J. Barrett (bass)—also of Blood Incantation fame—alongside the drummer / vocalist E. Wendler, Spectral Voice weave a sonic tapestry with a level of excellence that surpasses even their own formidable standards.
Sparagmos unquestionably stands as a definitive death metal highlight of 2024.
Despite Deserted Fear‘s German roots, the band’s material on their debut full lenth, My Empire reeks instead of a rather diverse range of influences. The stench of death that reeks in the air is suffocating as the band preludes their filthy brand of death metal on the Intro track, but once the madness begins with The Battalion of Insanities there is no stopping Deserted Fear. Right from the get go there is a rather strong Asphyx influence with the riffing style that Fabian and Mahne utilise, though there is a somewhat slight Polish sound thanks to vocalist Mahne’s growls, sounding like a fusion between Nergal’s deep, hollow growls and Martin van Drunen’s howls, some of the very best vocalists in death metal.

After more than eleven years since the release of Enthroned Is the Night, the legendary beast of Demoncy rears its ugly head once more—in league with Dark Descent Records—and perhaps at the top of its malevolent powers. Led by illustrious founder Ixithra, upcoming fifth album Black Star Gnosis is a true testament to constancy and vision in the name of evil. With this new offering, Demoncy deliver the record most sonically akin to 1999’s Joined In Darkness since the turn of the century. The primitive reverb-laden production seamlessly complements the songcraft of unfathomable darkness, resulting in an inimitable hellish soundscape unique to Demoncy alone. The crushing compositions are accompanied by a commanding subterranean bass frequency, as well as Ixithra’s uniquely coarse vocal performances—which also bear a striking resemblance to the second album. Having formed in 1989, Demoncy are among the eldest US black metal bands in existence.

With a sound characterized by epic atmospheres, progressive immersion and an old-school diehardness, "The Crimson Temple" marks the seventh installment from Greek trailblazers VARATHRON, known to be amongst the pioneers of the Hellenic Black Metal genre. The band's iconic vocalist Stefan Necroabyssious, who's been at VARATHRON's helm for the last 35 years, and whose "lust for unholy creations" has only ever gotten bigger and better, reflects, that "The Crimson Temple" has seen the band commit its unyielding devotion and uncompromising passion to every fine detail; from the album's meticulous production, mixing and mastering at Achilleas Kalantzis's Suncord Audiolab, to its rich visual side, designed and painted by Paolo Girardi.
"The album consists of 10 tracks in an epic, 46 minute ride into the depths of our deranged vision," comments band's leader Stefan. "As always, we shall never forget to express our eternal gratitude for your overwhelming support all these years. We are most eager to share everything with you!"
The opus arrives five years after "Patriarchs Of Evil"; a refreshing effort, which took many of the 2018's best-of hard rock & metal lists by storm, set the anticipation for "The Crimson Temple", and found VARATHRON's creative potential and musical zest on par with 1988 - the year it had all began. The band's line-up remains unchanged with Stefan Necroabyssious on vocals, Achilleas C on guitars & keyboards, Sotiris on guitars, Stratos on bass and Haris on drums.
