Twighlightfall is an album that should not be overlooked by anyone who appreciates some good metal even if it's not completely clear exactly what genre Twilightfall falls into.
Nokturnal Mortum will probably never make an album like this again, so it's a classic in its own right. There's enough here to last for many listens and more. Even better, the demo was re-released in a full-length album remastered in 2005, but was out of print for a decade under CD format !
Unlike many bands which when they find a good melody repeat it over and over, Nokturnal Mortum use a skill of subtly varying the melody to create a progress of change and then after a while return to the initial melody. Brilliant keyboard work and the vocals are done just right. Return Of The Vampire Lord, one of the best black metal songs ever recorded ! Includes Death SS, Burzum & Graveland cover songs.
Re-issue, CD booklet 8 page stapled with PMS print, re-mastered specially for CD.
Returning with Nedstigning, their debut full-length, Gjendød walks further down the snow-covered path into history-minded obscurity. “Håpet Falmer” continues mysterious musicians K and KK’s stylistic fence-treading, balancing their cold, riff-based songwriting with unsettling moments of clattering discord and dime-turn rhythmic changes. The adrenal, savage black metal offered by Gjendød masterfully fuses these two disparate, but still wholly Norse black metal lineages

The debut album from Belial on Austria's Lethal Records is, without question, one of the heaviest Black/Death Metal albums I have ever heard. It starts off with a creepy little intro, then smashes into a re-recorded version of, in my opinion, Belial's signature track, "The Invocation." This version is much heavier and darker then the one that appeared on their "Gods of the Pit" demo, as Belial added more spoken word interludes and hoarse whispering to the mix. After this, Belial rips through 20 minutes of some of the most intense music in the history of the underground scene. This album just rages along at a breakneck pace, and doesn't let up fast enough for you to catch your breath. My only small complaint is the length of this album, but that is minor in comparison to what Belial does with the little time they have here.
On a side note, this release featured 2 different covers for some reason. The original (which I have, and which is the rarer of the 2) was a rather cheap looking, almost xerox'ed scene of a mountain landscape in the woods, with a black moon hovering in the sky, in black and white, with some blue here and there, and the band's logo in blue in the upper left hand corner, and the album title in the lower right hand corner. The second cover was the hand holding whatever that is in the photo, with the album title in white in the upper right hand corner, and the band logo in red in the lower right hand corner. I have no idea why this was done, other then perhaps only a limited number of copies had the original artwork.
This album has been long out of print, thanks to the thieving bastards that ran Lethal Records. However, I have seen 1 or 2 distros still carrying it (with the second cover artwork), and I'm sure there are a few traders out there with it as well. In any case, pick this up at all costs if you can.

Ufomammut formed in the late ’90s by Poia (guitars, FXs) and Urlo (bass, vocals, FXs, synths), rising from the ashes of past band Judy Corda, together with Vita (drums). With Levre taking over on drums in 2021, the band has undergone a rebirth, culminating in the release of the album Fenice and the Crookhead EP. Over the course of twenty-five years, the band has developed a unique sound that combines heavy, dynamic riff worship with a deep understanding of the psychedelic tradition in music. This has resulted in a cosmic, futuristic, and technicolor sound that fully immerses listeners. The band has produced ten records along with various other releases, such as compilations, EPs, and live albums.
Now, in 2024, as they celebrate their quarter-century milestone, the band is set to release their latest album, Hidden. This album marks a shift in the band’s musical composition, aiming for a more intense and heavy sound, and it’s the third release featuring Levre as the band’s new drummer. The title reflects the concept of the presence of everything in existence and the ability to bring to light what lies within.
With Hidden, Ufomammut delves into a sonic journey that traverses vast expanses of space and time. From the crushing heaviness to the haunting melodies, from the textured compositions to the otherworldly atmospheres, it testifies to the never-ending evolution of the band and their mastery of creating immersive sonic experiences: a fitting celebration of their twenty-five years of sonic exploration and experimentation.
