    3rd album from '03 by this legendary Spanish Death Metal band, now on vinyl too

Leaving, who hail from Oakland, CA, meld the heavy distortion of doom metal with the ethereal textures of shoegaze, forging an audio landscape that is devastatingly hypnotic and dripping with sorrow. Founded in 2021, they are a seasoned group of sonic architects who include members of Noothgrush, Amber Asylum, Graves at Sea, Lycus, and Funerary among them. Leaving weaves a musical tapestry that plunges listeners into the abyss with shadowy vocals adding emotional depth and somber undertones to their enormous sound. Lyrically they delve into themes of desolation, depression, loneliness, introspection, and the shadows that lurk within the human psyche. Leaving’s music paints a bleak but vivid, almost gossamer picture of a world consumed by decay. This interplay of light and shadow, coupled with an underlying heaviness, creates an atmosphere that is bound to envelop the listener in a shroud of mesmerizing gloom. With each note, the band invites you into the liminal space they've crafted - a space between worlds, emotions, and musical genres.

With “The Apophatic Wilderness”, Verberis reveals an image of man cast into the house of Abaddon. Three formidable compositions totalling 41 minutes proceed from 2022’s “Adumbration of the Veiled Logos”, recounting an entanglement of hubris, submission, worship, and ruin.

As with the past two releases, “The Apophatic Wilderness” was recorded by the constellation of DA with JSM, NH, and MP. This time, the essence of germanium transistors and magnetic tape imbues the sonic spectrum and provides an aura of vintage viscerality.

While collaborating once more with Ars Alchymiae and Magnus Lindberg, further control was relinquished to achieve a final product reaching beyond the capacities of the band’s core alone. In this respect, mixing was by the hands of Richard Behrens, whereas layout and typography came forth from an open grave.

lovingly made collection of AMEBIX rarities, starting with the extremely rare demo 1979 ripped from an OG cassette, showing the band in a very embryonic stage when they still had a raw minimal sound, partly experimental and partly reminding of early Crass. Side B includes their "Right to rise" Demo 1987 and extra tracks recorded live at the Mermaid in Birmingham, 1987, with the band at the top of their game, with their iconic and highly influential wall of sound. Comes with insert including lyrics, photos and scans of the tapes.

Ecclesia play dark & epic HEAVY METAL heavily influenced by traditional doom. Since their formation as a trio in 2016, this now-fully-formed army of French Inquisitors released the demo Witchfinding Metal of Doom in 2017 and the Aural Music-released debut album De Ecclesiæ Universalis in 2020 for all the sinners around the globe.

Armed with purifying fire, blessed swords, and Holy Rage, Ecclesia's lyrical themes deal with the 12th Century dark medieval age of Holy Inquisition. On Ecclesia Militans, one will find a perfect syncretism between traditional heavy metal and epic doom, recalling the likes of Candlemass, the UK's Solstice, and especially Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath. Ecclesia's proselytism will convert fans of those as well as anyone who can feel the righteous fervor of medieval brimstone - now confess your sins!
