mid-90s Scandinavian black metal with some abient parts,raw and cold.
Lathspell sounds somewhat typically Scandinavian, ranging from Norway’s Gorgoroth to Sweden’s Watain and latter Marduk efforts, with the eerie atmosphere of Ondskapt. All while still retaining the aggression of France’s Antaeus and a somewhat Australian grandeur to its blasphemy. the list could go on and on with different comparisons, ‘cause "impious incantations” isn’t unique; but it’s still damn good.
These Finnish lads surpass their predecessors in constant quality.

The band have been dwelling within the Polish black metal underground for a period of time in which this enigma have clearly spearheaded themselves as one of most prominent acts within the scene. “Nocel” consists of 8 brand new morose and mournful hymns that displayed a scenario where fury and hatred are the two dominating emotions. They rumble gloomily and yawn with methane.

The nine rites of this album were recorded during several full moon nights with “no triggers or any digital lies used during the recording process” assures the band leader, Xaos Oblivion. The recording was performed in a studio hidden deep in the woods, with a dedication closer to a possession, in order to capture the true aura of traditional black metal, in both sound and song structure. “Haunted” recalls the true glory of the Norwegian scene early sounds, in short - it's grim, menacing, cold, raw sounding and well-executed.
