Under a frozen Swedish moon, Skogen have their sonic pentagram of albums in homage to the stark, nebular beauty of their motherland. Theirs is a blackened folkish metal possessed by the mysteries of nature and dedicated to paying homage to its majesty, both in light and darkness. This polarity is felt in the music as subtly beautiful melodies and clean vocals are woven into the more pervasive darker tones that saturate Skuggorna Kallar, like the blanket of night, heavy with dew. You could say that it is simultaneously the band’s most complete and darkest work to date.

Sometimes all it takes is to be out there. In the misty, cold dark reality and be alone. A suburban street with impotent street lights failing to break through the spell of the fog. A city underpass with the pungent smell of urine the only reminder of other human existence. Or a windswept moor after midnight with owl’s silently devouring rodents and foxes quietly careening past as you realize your own insignificance. In such situations creative sparks are born and the sounds of the Earth reveal themselves. Herr K has clearly been listening, as Fragments Of Silence offers a portal into the eerie, yet unmistakably earthly void. Metamorphoses, was an homage to Kafka and while the bleakness of Fragments…tips a grey, tattered cap in the direction of the great man, it draws greater strength from our existential state and especially from the murky world of nightly dreams. “You are free, and that is why you are lost” Kafka reminds us. But listen closely and you will see yourself in Herr K’s sonic mirror and remember that ‘found and enslaved is no match for ‘lost and free’, especially in a world painted in such a stark, yet enchanting monochrome.

M.(Skyforest, ex-Annorkoth).
PERYT – the army, the weapon, the machinery of war! The idea of modern and sinister sonic warfare was born in 2005. A powerful mixture of furious black metal strongly established in its almost forgotten roots, a touch of death/grind attitude and all thrown into the wall of noise called terrorcore.
Jewelcase CD with 12-page booklet.
This is the morbid sound of the 90's!
Beherit and Carpathian Forest maniacs won't resist this hellish attack of pure black metal the way it was meant to be.
Hailing from Italy, TALV started in early 2012 under the name of Trees In The Fog. Their purpose has always been to merge dissonant and melancholic black metal with a touch of ambient music.
Like painting a dismal scenario, TALV’s new effort is drowned into the darkest north-Italian naturalistic black metal inspiration. The cold and freezing guitar sound reminds of Tenebrae in Perpetuum and Beatrik’s classics, while the prevailing desperate feelings position the band within the groove of depressive black metal.
What makes of Talv a personal and unique project is the wise equilibrium between a hateful, cold hunger and a fragile background soundscape. The ColdWorld cover further emphasizes the strong visionary ambient perspective and inspiration of this raising underground project.
