'Kingdom of Misery' is a reflection of the world we live in today.
A world drowning in fear, agony, suffering and decay.
A society imprisoned by the deception of their own minds.
Consumed by the falseness of one's own egotistical agenda.
We watch hopelessly as our planet deteriorates before our eyes.

On "Arete", NETHERBIRD return with their signature melodic black/death metal that has become their hallmark. It is deeply rooted in the Scandinavian underground legacy, yet delivered with a strong sense of feel and urgency, allowing these tracks to exude the confidence and songwriting prowess of a band at the peak of their craft. The album itself is the third installment of the trilogy that started on “The Grander Voyage” and continued on “Into the Vast Uncharted”. With their sophomore album Imperative Imperceptible Impulse, Ad Nauseam took a step forward in terms of composition, musical structures and sound. Music is not intended as a mere sequence of riffs that sounds well one after the other, but is now a naturally ordered structure where almost every musical event refers to the past and/or predicts the future, generating very layered and complex patterns dominated by polyphony and polyrhythms and where each instrument has its own role and is essential in the whole. The music represents a merging of many different styles, the most prominent ones being extreme death/black metal, avantgarde, jazz, post-core, doom/sludge and ambient.
The composition process of Imperative Imperceptible Impulse has been heavily influenced by 20th century classical composers like Stravinsky, Šostakóvič, Xenakis, Scelsi, Penderecki and Ligeti, to name a few. Both the concepts of harmony and melody have been put into discussion to get a music where harmony is obtained by means of disharmony and melody by dissonances. To push this method even further, a unique tuning system has been conceived, to allow a new harmonic vocabulary and to eradicate the players from the comfort zone of the usual melodic patterns every guitar/bass player is used to.
A two part album: Leviathan, the Twisting Serpent is a two track ritualistic soundscape and dark ceremonial piece, Michael W Ford utilized Leviathan research and reconstructed invocations as published in his "Dragon of the Two Flames" book (Succubus Productions Publishing, LApotheca). These two tracks are sonic explorations and hymns to the mystical symbol of Leviathan, the Encircler. The Ouraboros is the world serpent which represents primal chaos, abyssic darkness and the acasual. The 2nd part is a live ritual recording Halloween/Samhain 2018 to bridge the spirit with the astral plane of Nightside Vampyrism and Lycanthropy.
When drummer/vocalist Proscriptor McGovern (Russ R. Givens) dissolved Absu on January 27th 2020, his main intention was to splinter the 30-year old faction into a renewed songwriting concord. Proscriptor McGovern’s Apsû is the obvious by-product of that chemical breakdown, which constitutes a new incarnation and direct continuation of Absu’s legacy. Securing the ranks, alongside McGovern, are continuing bassist/vocalist Ezezu (Absu: 2008-2020), new guitar virtuoso Vaggreaz (Possessed, Gruesome) and keyboardist Vorskaath (Zemial, Agatus). Since Absu’s last, unreleased album was to be penned as “Apsû,” McGovern fused the title with his name to form the group. With this much anticipated, self-titled album, McGovern’s objective was to append the signature sound of “mythological occult metal,” but to convolute it with bouts of psychedelia, fusion and vintage electronics. Written for those who are curious and unwearied in their quest of arcane knowledge, the album was chronicled at studios around the world and features an exclusive set of guests
