Inverted Matter is a death metal entity born as an evolution of Inverted, a band born in 2007 in the upper Treviso area, in North-eastern Italy. At the end of 2015, parting ways with Alessandro and Enrico Scriminich (guitarist and drummer who went on to form black metal band Gorrch), former Suffocation drummer Mike Smith was recruited to write a new album. At the beginning of 2016 the lineup was completed with the addition of Jason Nealy (Bleeding Eyes) as guitarist and Leonardo “Livio” Langaro (Kani) as studio bassist.

Harbinger is a concept album which focuses entirely on the oldest arthropod ever to exist on Earth, the trilobite. The eight songs Inverted Matter crafted deal with a scientific research that goes from the still unknown origins of the species to their extinction, in a mix of old school and progressive death metal influences. Recorded and mixed by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin at Badrum studio, Harbinger will see the light in late autumn 2022 under Avantgarde Music death metal division, Unorthodox Emanation.

It took a very, very long time for Tiwanaku to be satisfied with their debut album. The prog death metal band, originally formed in 2003 by ex-Nocturnus guitarist Ed Mowery, in its long life featured musicians like Richard Christy (ex-Death), James Murphy (ex-Obituary, ex-Testament) and late Michael Estes (ex-Acheron) among the many. Now, no less than nineteen years later, Tiwanaku is ready to release their first studio album, Earth Base One, via Avantgarde Music / Unorthodox Emanations on November 4th. The album will include contributions from many renowned musicians, from the aforementioned Michael Estes to Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), and will feature a stunning artwork by Spanish art master Juanjo Castellano

Red Cloudy

A Tzompantli, in bygone days, was a rack used to display human skulls, often of enemies or sacrifices, in several Mesoamerican civilizations. In 2022, Tzompantli is a beyond-crushing death doom war march built on a bedrock of Native / Indigenous themes, rituals and history, illuminating the splendor, brutality and despair within.  
Nearly three years after the band’s self-released EP, Tzompantli’s debut full length presents the first smoke-conjured specter to manifest materially. Tlazcaltiliztli, a ritual ceremony that translates to “nourishing the fire and sun with blood”, is imbued with the spirit of Native inspiration that dwells deep within the heart and soul of the project and is skillfully weaved into a traditional bludgeoning framework of spine-severing savagery and melancholic anguish. On the ritualistic “Eltequi” (to cut the chest open and extract the heart as an offering) the band’s unification of native / folk instrumentation and heaviness becomes one in the same, opening vast new horizons for where this sound can go. 
Tlazcaltiliztli is dedicated, and an offering, to the indigenous peoples, nations and tribes of the North, South, East and West of the American continents. It marks a fearsome and spirited new vision for the death metal underground.

"VIRTUS" is the second part of the "Neofolk Finland" trilogy that "PATRIA" started in 2012. This time, after the gloomy and bog-stenched "NOITANAAMA", TERVAHÄÄT takes a leap towards more traditional neofolk... but quickly sidesteps to krautish industrial psychedelia and takes a cover in the trenches of futurism or even visions of 100 years old modernism.

Two years after their sophomore “Cosmic Terror”, Germany’s THE SPIRIT once again delve into the vast nothingness of the universe, while capturing the fear of the unknown and humanity’s insignificance within our cosmos in their sound. On their upcoming third offering, “Of Clarity and Galactic Structures”, the duo, consisting of Matthias Trautes (vocals, guitars, bass) and Manuel Steitz (drums), hold on to their black/death metal roots yet take the progressive elements to a whole new level. Whilst the predecessor from 2019 already contained some prog elements, the brain twisting rhythm changes and virtuosic instrumental performance became an essential part of the band’s universe.

Once again recorded and mixed at the Woodshed Studio, Germany by V. Santura (with the drums being tracked at Iguana Studios by Christoph Brandes), THE SPIRIT’s lyrics usually mix a general misanthropic view on the world with cosmic metaphors and the call to see our often narrow-minded and egocentric existence in the larger context of our whole universe, where none of our daily struggles and vanities ever matter. To distance oneself from this attitude and see the bigger picture can often lead to new clarity, and this thought inspired the album title.
