Skogen is an Atmospheric Black Metal band from Växjö, Sweden, formed in 2009. In the veins of Drudkh. Current label - Frostscald Records. Formed in 2009.

Upon first coming across Sweden’s Skogen, I was half expecting a bland and boring dedication to the old school Scandinavian scene due to the fact that this twosome of J. Svensson and M. Nilsson operate under such a horribly generic name.

However, this atmospheric black metal band are definitely not just another by-the-book dedication to a scene long put to bed. I, like a lot of people, need to be inspired and turned on by the aesthetics of a band in order to listen to them.

Away from the gothic and folk parts of their earlier recordings, Mysterium present themselves in a modern wall of sound on their second album "Soulwards". Heavier, more metal, more direct, but without doing away with the melodic and atmospheric aspects of their debut "The Glowering Facades of Night". With "Soulwards", Mysterium have grown up and establish themselves as a self-conscious and confident Dark Metal band that can rival the genre's greats.
