GOATS OF DOOM showed a new face on Rukous, where the mysterious atmosphere of old is shot through with more surging aggression and bewitching melody: in essence, a melodic blizzard, if you will. It's characteristically Finnish in its melancholy - melody can never be too saccharine, of course - but burns icy hot with a passion that makes its seven-song/42-minute runtime a nightsky treasure to behold. The theme of Rukous is suitably spirituality, and hereby do GOATS OF DOOM offer myriad ways to worship the dark.

Lurking in the dankest, moldiest depths of the black metal underground, THE TRUE WEREWOLF has prolifically pursued a vision of malodorous decay and plague-ridden melancholy since 2002. Helmed exclusively by SATANIC WARMASTER mastermind Graf Werwolf, THE TRUE WERWOLF in many senses is the obscure and malnourished shadowside to SATANIC WARMASTER. That shadowside is unequivocally BLACK METAL in its purest and proudest definition, but one shackled to the dungeons of the early/mid '90s: rotten, rabid, blown-out, and bleary, but medieval in a manner most cobwebbed and forgotten. Death Music is the penultimate distillation of THE TRUE WERWOLF aesthetic, compiling tracks from a 10" MLP, two 7" EPs, a split, and an otherwise-unreleased track. At 10 tracks in an hour and now featuring a revised layout, Death Music is a chalice overflowing with ancient poison, daring the listener to imbibe.

It's unbelievable how a band like Outrage from Germany hadn't been given the credit they truly deserve. Formed in 1983, together with SLAUGHTER they have been among the very first bands showing such a strong HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST influence combined with a raw thrash/black attack in the vein of early SODOM. This CD features their two 1985 demos in their entirety. They have broken up in 1987 after two more demos and have remained buried by time and dust till their reformation in 2004. Along with POISON this is a teutonic gem that must be present in your collection.
