Inverted Matter is a death metal entity born as an evolution of Inverted, a band born in 2007 in the upper Treviso area, in North-eastern Italy. At the end of 2015, parting ways with Alessandro and Enrico Scriminich (guitarist and drummer who went on to form black metal band Gorrch), former Suffocation drummer Mike Smith was recruited to write a new album. At the beginning of 2016 the lineup was completed with the addition of Jason Nealy (Bleeding Eyes) as guitarist and Leonardo “Livio” Langaro (Kani) as studio bassist.
Harbinger is a concept album which focuses entirely on the oldest arthropod ever to exist on Earth, the trilobite. The eight songs Inverted Matter crafted deal with a scientific research that goes from the still unknown origins of the species to their extinction, in a mix of old school and progressive death metal influences. Recorded and mixed by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin at Badrum studio, Harbinger will see the light in late autumn 2022 under Avantgarde Music death metal division, Unorthodox Emanation.

It took a very, very long time for Tiwanaku to be satisfied with their debut album. The prog death metal band, originally formed in 2003 by ex-Nocturnus guitarist Ed Mowery, in its long life featured musicians like Richard Christy (ex-Death), James Murphy (ex-Obituary, ex-Testament) and late Michael Estes (ex-Acheron) among the many. Now, no less than nineteen years later, Tiwanaku is ready to release their first studio album, Earth Base One, via Avantgarde Music / Unorthodox Emanations on November 4th. The album will include contributions from many renowned musicians, from the aforementioned Michael Estes to Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), and will feature a stunning artwork by Spanish art master Juanjo Castellano

It was but March 2019 when Sweden’s ULTRA SILVAM displayed the full furl of their powers with the debut full-length The Spearwound Salvation. In a mere deadly 28 minutes, the power-trio swiftly ‘n’ succinctly asserted their identity, proudly upholding their home country’s history of melodic black metal during the glorious ‘90s but driving toward something uniquely their own – and VIOLENTLY so. In fact, ULTRA SILVAM’s execution alone was palpitating: every ringing chord, every bashed drum, and every slaughtered tongue bled an authenticity that was refreshing to behold. The fact that they lock-welded such unsafe (and unsterile) execution to dazzling ‘n’ dynamic songwriting made The Spearwound Salvation all the more impressive.

The quest for a complete Solar Fields reissue collection continues here at Sidereal, and this time we bring back to light the first installments in Magnus Birgersson’s unfinished tracks archive.
Origin #01, originally released in 2010, was the first compilation of Solar Fields finished unfinished pieces. A series of audio stems born in various periods of time, in this case from 2002 to 2008, then completed and refined.
Such a genesis makes the Origin series something different in the Solar Fields catalog, as the usual consistency and unity of Magnus’s studio albums is nowhere to be found here, in favor of a multi-faceted, various and fragmented approach. Every track is completely different from the other, and you never know what’s lying behind the next corner. Every note sounds 101% Solar Fields, but the spectre covered by Origin #01 was an entirely different width compared to what the Swedish producer released until that moment.

Silent Future Recordings proudly present a true artistic enigma from western France. With influences ranging everywhere from contemporary music, ambient electronics, and shoegaze to extreme metal in its many guises, Erebe have chiselled out an obsidian slab of otherworldly sounds. Perhaps rooted somewhere between the realms of progressive rock and post-metal. As far as comparisons go, Opeth, The Ocean, Karnivool, Katatonia, and The Contortionist all come to mind at various points in this multifaceted masterpiece.
Fresh on the heels of their second album, “Strayed in Shadows”, Sweden’s premiere gothic rock band De Arma return with a three-song EP called “Nightcall”. Whereas the full-length still showed some traces of De Arma’s metal past, the EP introduces elements of darkwave into their ever-expanding sonic palette. Nonetheless, it retains many of the characteristics which earned the previous effort such critical acclaim: the outpouring of raw emotion materialising through sweeping dreamscapes, gripping choruses, and the mesmerising interplay between vocalists Andreas Pettersson and Maria Oja.
