After releasing four demo tapes, Mithotyn finally put out their first full-length album in 1997. “In the Sign of the Ravens” might not quite reach the heights of the band’s later releases, but there’s still plenty here to enjoy. The album delivers a hard, cold take on Viking Metal, and at this early stage the band hadn’t yet fully embraced the stronger melodic elements that would become more prominent on later records.

If you’re already a fan of Viking or Black Metal, you’ll know roughly what to expect: longer songs with some variation, harsh growled vocals balanced with cleaner chorus sections, and a strong sense of atmosphere. It’s a familiar formula, but one that works well and captures what makes this style of music so enjoyable.

Hailing from eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania, IRONFLAME is a modern heavy metal outfit with traditionally-based ideals. Their fist-banging anthems hearken back to the sounds of such venerable acts as Dio, Omen, Riot, Iron Maiden and Fifth Angel. Multi-instrumentalist Andrew D'Cagna formed IRONFLAME in late-2016 as a solo project, but the group soon became a formidable live unit—performing at high-profile festivals such as Legions of Metal in the U.S. and Keep it True in Germany; alongside metal heavyweights such as Armored Saint, Grim Reaper, Flotsam & Jetsam, Venom and Loudness.

Since the band's inception, IRONFLAME has recorded a number of tracks for exclusive bonus content, compilations, splits, etc. Some have even remained unreleased... until now! The 10-song Compendium CD compiles tunes from the European vinyl pressings of Lightning Strikes the Crown and Tales of Splendor and Sorrow, the split 7" with Comaniac, the 10-year anniversary Storm Crusher LP, unreleased cuts from the Blood Red Victory sessions, and an unreleased acoustic take of "Marching On."

Inspired by growing up listening to epic metal legends such as Iron Maiden, Savatage, Helloween, and Judas Priest, multi-instrumentalist Andrew D'Cagna formed IRONFLAME in late-2016 as an outlet for crafting soaring, melodic heavy/power metal of his own. After the immensely positive response toward IRONFLAME's Divebomb Records debut, Lightning Strikes the Crown, motivation for a follow-up surfaced rather quickly. Utilizing the tried-and-true formula of "if it's not broken, don't fix it," the entire process remained largely the same—as fast and improvisational as before.

The cult 2007 classic from Swedish melodic black metal masters, returning on CD and limited edition clear vinyl formats!

Harvest is the fifth album from the Swedish veterans and is considered a cornerstone of modern melodic black metal. It balances the uncompromising brutality of early Scandinavian black metal with melodic death metal sensibilities, resulting in songs that are vicious yet deeply memorable. The album features the wicked vocals of Christopher Olivius and the songwriting skills of Marcus Norman, resulting in a "black romantic atmospheric" sound.

ARAGON formed in Levittown, NY when high school friends Mike Pope (guitar) and Gerry Holz (drums) joined forces with Vinny Ciminera (bass) and Rob Andersen (vocals). Initially inspired by the classic sounds of Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, etc., the four-piece gradually gravitated toward the burgeoning thrash style being fostered by future legends such as Metallica. The initial result of such efforts was "Dreams of Hell," intended for the Arctic Records Presents compilation in 1986, though ultimately unreleased at that time.
 

Formed in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada in late-1989, CATSCAN's members—Alan Goddard (vocals, bass), Sean Horodyski and Brian Erfle (guitars), and Todd Pitts (drums)—combined their individual influences into an interesting and unique take on techy, thrash-leaning metal that wouldn't draw immediate comparisons to any of their contemporaries. Also of note is the lyrical direction having been influenced by Alan's Christian faith—especially interesting in that the rest of the band didn't necessarily agree with such concepts.

Hyper-obscure Pennsylvania thrash metal outfit DEMENTIA formed in 1988 and endured a number of lineup shifts during the band's infancy. Led by guitarist Bill Schaeffer, an instructor at Hawk Music known locally to be an impressive shredder, many of the ideas that would ultimately make up The Insanity Chronicles were in place from the start. Initially inspired by the likes of SLAYER, VENOM, IRON MAIDEN, and KING DIAMOND, Bill's songwriting fragments were pieced together by the members as they practiced two to three times a week, honing their skills with the hopes of securing as many live shows as possible.
