Since its inception in 1993, TSJUDER has always been delivering Norwegian Black Metal in the classic raw and rattling style, yet without ever giving in to the temptation of wallowing in nostalgia.
As can be heard on the present reissue of their long sold-out and much sought after second album originally released in 2002, not a single note in their music has to be dyed black.
That’s simply because the roots that are clearly showing are all glistening with the abyssal musical non-colour pioneered by BATHORY, CELTIC FROST, and VENOM as well as those Northern masters MAYHEM, DARKTHRONE, and EMPEROR.
The venomous and vicious throat rendering by bassist Nag and guitarist Draugluin entwines with thorny, relentlessly driving riffs and an infernal rhythmical ice storm unleashed by drummer Jontho.
Available again on special price CD, this milestone of True Norwegian Black Metal are described by the band as "raw and uncompromising black metal".

Darkthrone's legendary 1989 demo, including additional tracks from Bootleg TV (1989) and rare rehearsal tracks from 1990.

Darkthrone started in 1986 under the name of Black Death. Although becoming known the world over as a black metal band crucial to the lasting legacy of the genre, Darkthrone began more as an extreme metal band utilising elements of thrash, death and doom metal into their early compositions.

Cromlech was Darkthrone’s final demo release, before a deal was inked with Peaceville Records. The demo was recorded in 1989 with the line-up of Gylve Nagell (Drums), Ted Skjellum (Guitars/vocals), Ivar Enger (Guitars) and Dag Nilsen (Bass); a line-up which would remain in place for the revered Soulside Journey and A Blaze in the Northern Sky albums. 

As well as the iconic demo itself – containing tracks which would go on to form part of the Soulside Journey debut - this release also contains additional tracks from the Bootleg TV Oslo recordings in 1989, including a cover of Celtic Frost’s Visual Aggression. Also includes a trio of instrumental tracks from a rehearsal tape originally made for Peaceville founder Paul “Hammy” Halmshaw in 1990.

Since their formation in 2007, MINENWERFER have pursued a proud 'n' pure vision of black metal idiosyncratically focused on World War I - idiosyncratic, in the sense that the band hail from America but mostly sing in German. What has resulted is a startlingly accomplished canon that has quietly built itself into prolific proportions, with their first album arriving in 2010, followed by albums in 2012 and 2019, and a slew of split releases and EPs in the interim.

That second album, Nihilistischen, took a moodier turn from MINENWERFER's throttling debut album, Volkslieder. But while a relative expansion of dynamics made their songs sound even more epic, the duo likewise upped the muscle to their attack, arriving at a thicker soundfield than that no-less-considerable predecessor. What results is a work equally steeped in the ugly underground and the yonder battlefields of professionalism.
