Back in the early 80s, the Danish heavy metal scene was taking its first steps, learning a (very) own path away from the strong rock and punk rock backgrounds that the country provided their youth. Those were the years where the highly acclaimed metal bands Mercyful Fate and Artillery took form. But also a few others that, in the following years, saw their career follow different paths and fates, loading to disbanding with a band or simply fading away. Formed in 1983,
Copenhagen-natives EVIL were one of these bands. Their debut demo, already in ‘83, set the Danish heavy metal on fire with their heavy metal frenzy and their now-mythical 1984 EP “Evil’s Message” was the confirmation that Denmark had probably one of the strongest metal scenes in Europe back then. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to last and the band disappeared from circulation in 1985.
A return to action was later tried in 2015, with original drummer Freddie Wolf, now on guitars, leading a new line-up that released the debut album “Shoot The Messenger”. But Evil’s career
still wasn’t meant to be and the band laid dormant again... Until now!
The mighty Evil is now re-born with new joining members including vocalist Martin Steene (Iron Fire, ex-Force Of Evil), drummer Henrik Molin (ex-Shadowspawn), bassist Jakob Haugaard (Iron Fire) and guitarist Nikolaj Ihlemann (ex-Nightlight), continuing the original inspirations of bands like Judas Priest and Accept.
Soluzioni strettamente riconducibili al raw black si trovano a convivere con un carico atmosferico importante che supporta i brani innalzandoli notevolmente: il misterioso duo tedesco autore di questa prova aleggia nell'oscurità più fitta.
With their second album, Peccata Mortalia, ENTARTUNG exhale a crypt-stench stronger than death. Indeed, Peccata Mortalia displays the duo in an even stronger (black)light, the songwriting both more assured and distinctive and the execution more vile and grim. Shadow-draped yet melodic, despite the band's Teutonic origins, ENTARTUNG forego the mystical/medieval vibe of their country's usual black metal style and, in fact, slot well alongside Finland's filthy and emotive idiom of the past decade.

Eneferens will be typecast as atmospheric black metal protagonists, but theirs is a more complex, nuanced style that embraces not only the epic, Cascadian fare that Wolves in the Throne Room pioneered, but also at times the mournful, heart on the sleeve doom that Patrick Walker has made his own, via Warning and 40 Watt Sun. Guitar lines crush, shimmer and tease in equal measure, while it is scarcely believable that all of the voices, ethereal, growled and haunted originate from the throat of sole protagonist Jori Apedaile – who also plays every instrument on the album.

Ende, a Black Metal outfit hailing from France are ready to unleash their 6th full length album: “L'aube des Anathèmes”. Previously signed to Obscure Abhorrence Productions, the band has released 5 solid albums in the past and continue to do so with their next opus.
L'aube des Anathèmes offers a wide range of the mid 90’s Black Metal sound where you can hear undoubtedly the raw / old school black metal in their sound to a certain point where it gets mixed with the synth instrument (that is very present within the symphonic black metal genre) without sounding to symphonic, but rather haunted or vampiric. The guitars however deliver those vile raw and yet melodic riffs that directly make you forget about all the above and just take you on this wave of melodies throughout the album. The drums are pounding with variations between the old school blast beats and fast blast beats to even mid-tempo and thrash like tempos together with an overlay on low bass tones. The vocals can only be complimented for lifting everything up and finalizing that 90’s sound as a whole!
Ende has delivered an album that is furious, relentless, melodic (with a touch of symphonic) and driven with the old school 90’s black metal sound and all in all managed to wrap it up in a solid production. L'aube des Anathèmes is a must have for the old school, melodic and even pagan fans of the Black Metal genre!
