“La Grande Danse Macabre” album (2001), which presents a more varied and darker approach compared to the Swedish black metal titans' usual blastbeat-driven full on assault. Created in close cooperation with the band, this re-release features remastered sound (done by bassist Devo Andersson), detailed liner notes, unpublished photos, revamped artwork by Death Wolf vocalist Maelstrom and bonus material on the CD version: a cover version of “Samhain” (originally by pre-DANZIG punk outfit SAMHAIN) and all three tracks from the “Obedience” EP (2000). Expect nothing but perfect extreme black metal pleasure!

Originally released in the year 2000, IMMORTAL kicked off the new millennium in grand style with Damned in Black. Likewise, the album followed the transitional classic At the Heart of Winter, where the band sought a more slowed-down and definitely more epic sound. But “slowed-down” is all relative in the world of IMMORTAL, and Damned in Black brought back much of the band's trademark speed whilst not losing any epicness – and the closing title track is THE definition of EPIC. Info : Sweden's MARDUK are not only one of the most long running and respected black metal acts out there, but also one of the most productive.
